Blue into Every Blue

from III: Ashes by Jeremy Stewart

/

about

In 2018, a Salish Sea Orca's calf died soon after being born, and the cow (and her pod) carried the dead calf's body with them everywhere they went for around 2 weeks. Folks living around the area felt this as incredible waves of grief and as a warning about the disaster to come. My partner Erin wrote a beautiful, heartfelt song about this that it's now my privilege to share with you all. Love, Jeremy

lyrics

Come hell or high water the new thing is coming
the tide always returns
seas birds gamble smashing their shells on the shore rocks scatter
all the pieces that matter

I’m finding new ways of living
Finding new ways of living without a home
Crash this mountain right into the ocean
finding new ways of turning this looking glass around

Here remains the weight of her body
too heavy to carry - they finally let her go
Today the sea is a looking glass mirror
touch the bottom... tomorrow a rabbit hole

Blue into every blue into every blue into every blue
Blue into every blue into blue
